SAFTAG

South Australian Fish Tag

SAFTAG is the primary fish tagging program in South Australia. It was originally a component of ANSA national AUSTAG program which formed in 1999.

Today SAFTAG is still running as it was formed under AUSTAG, but has connected to Infofish Australia/ Suntag database and intel, and is also part of Fish tag Australia.

The program co-ordinates data collected by recreational anglers (ANSA SA members) around South Australia for analysis and the studying of fish migration and growth rates.

Farewell

Marcel Vandergoot.png

Marcel Vandergoot

Farewell to a very special person who over his lifetime did so much to promote sportfishing and the ideals of ANSA throughout S.A.

You will be much missed. "John Burges and the ANSA National Executive,  Alan Hall and the ANSA S.A. executive."

Marcel was a driving force and co-ordinator behind SAFTAG, and for many years run it meticulously, driven by his passion for fishing.

Data collected and recorded by Marcel over the years is irreplaceable and will serve well into the future towards a better understanding of fish growth and migration.
